In the midst of my examination, I didn't fail to notice one news item which seemed to occupy a lot of ream in the papers in the last few days.
The newspaper item, I am referring to is about the young entrepreneur mother ( why stress on mother I don't know , has anyone come across a description of an entrepreneur as an entrepreneur father )who allegedly smothered her little child barely of 4 years .
I found the incident extremely heart breaking and distressing.
None of the salacious details of how the mother pre-planned the allegedly murder or that she was undergoing an acrimonious divorce distracted me from the fact that I feel deep sympathy nay sympathy would be wrong connotation , I felt like when did being kind go out of fashion ?
A mother it is said has a rebirth when she brings her bundle of joy in this universe.
My senses revolt that a mother would just cold blooded force her child to exit the world.
I don't know what had happened or what was happening in her life , that such a tragedy happened.
The only thing disturbing me is the loss of an innocent child taken away in its prime .
Think of a father who lost a part of his own being .
Think of the grandparents who lost the apple of their eye .
What if it was an act of desperation triggered by loss of sense momentarily?
Even if the mother would have ended her own child's life , do you think she will ever have a moment of peace now onwards.
I am definitely not advocating leniency for the crime if it has occurred.
My point is, all of us are struggling with our own challenges and not many are privy to the knowledge of it.
Can we not just pause before judging, criticising , condemning, censuring ?
Can we stop being so inquisitive and prying and taking sadistic pleasure at the distress happening in and around us.
Our criminal jurisprudence is based on the presumption that every accused is innocent unless proven guilty.
Can we not be patient till the due process of law kickstarts before proclamation of guilt ?
The breaking news and minute to minute update still doesn't satiate our palate of nosiness.
I find it very disturbing , (no doubt spurred by the toxicity spread by TRP media war) that everyone seems to have an opinion or feels entitled to have one for any major happening around us .
Any so-called sensational news triggers the vilest of our animal instincts and the most cruel, inhumane and insensitive comments will be tossed faster than a speeding bullet.
Till the next breaking , sensational news .
Can we all resolve to be more kinder and empathetic?
Who all are there with me who would like to spread kindness and make this world a little gentler place ?
