TRUTH

We live in a world that is increasingly become divided along social, political, economic, and religious lines. This also leads to the increasing polarization of “truth”, where sections of the population contest on “your truth” versus “our truth” even on subjects that are unrelated to the common affinity that the group shares.”
Recently Justice Chandrachur spoke these profound words .

JUSTICE CHANDRACHUR

The above words started a string of thoughts in my mind .
‘Truth’ is a word we all are hammered all our life .
The first lesson taught to every child born is that never lie .
If you lie, you will turn out to be a bad person.
Only truth is our savior, whatever the consequences, never flinch from uttering the truth .
Truth and only truth always.

ASHOK CHAKRA

Our national emblem is Satyamev Jayate.
The words Satyameva Jayate from Mundaka Upanishad, meaning ‘Truth Alone Triumphs.
We all grow up with the one fact that truth and unflinching truth is what we have to speak
Now comes the interesting question though
How does one define truth ?
Like a chinese proverb succinctly puts it
There is are three truth, my truth, your truth and The truth .
But its interesting to understand what this The truth is ?
Is it the only truth possible?
Does truth vary from person to person?
To put it in millenal lingo, Is truth digital or it is analog?
Truth is very cliched and I feel time has come to define Truth .
When our senior leaders make statements like plastic surgery invent happened in ancient India.
Truth is refined and now father of modern plastic surgery is not Sir Harold Gillies. A New Zealand otolaryngologist but Maharshi Sushruta Indian born in BC 800 .
Truth gained new fame and dimensions in the last 2 years of pandemic.
We have overcame Covid19 and hence we can now celebrate festivals with the same fervour, go for outings and indulge in vacation overkill.
Truth is refined now and cow dung and urine are our true corona warrior’s.
We plastered our bodies with cow dung and our leaders hosted cow urine drinking events.
The ministry of Ayush has approved an herbal product named Coronil that claimed 100% recovery from COVID-19.
Truth is we have conquered the disease .
When did this crisis ever happen ?
As per our new health minister statement in our hallowed precincts of Truth ( The Parliament) , no deaths occured due to oxygen shortages in our country.
When we enter any witness box in the court of law to give witness, or take oath of any public office, our first statement is we will speak truth and full truth only .
Can our Govts or our officials lie?
No never , they can redefine or refine truth.
Why only public figures?
We can also have rejig of truth by our law and order mechanism.

JESSICA LAL AND HER ACCUSED MANU SHARMA

Remember the headlines few years back -
Noone killed Jessica?
Salman Khan car had noone on its wheels when it rammed and killed 3 innocent road side sleeping worthless mortals.
What is the truth behind Aarushi? All that remains with me is her mother Nupur stoic face and her father grey beard.
The forensic reports , the medical reports in all sensational high profile cases undergo layers of varied truth.
Depending on the stakeholders, enquiry report’s, investigations of different Govt agencies like Enforcement, CBI, Income Tax portray the sublime facade of truth to us.
I can go on and on , but this blog isn’t about critique of any Govt or any agency .
The moot point is revelance of ‘Truth’
We as mankind wouldn’t have made any progress if we wouldn’t have made changes in the definition of truth over ages .
All thinkers, innovators and all researchers have times and again proved that no truth is sacrosanct.
Many great philosophers and humanists have always proven that assertions, beliefs, thoughts, or propositions that were said could be changed or revolutionized.

SOCRATES

In ancient times , mankind who defied the truth in that era were persecuted and humiliated.
Socrates death sentence was a reminder that the majority is not always right and that truth matters more than popular opinion.
Lets have varied definition of truth as truthdom is owned or claimed by anyone.

In conclusion I will say
‘ The Truth is rarely pure and never simple’.
